Let’s face it – we’re not all morning people. It can be hard waking up a little earlier to nail down a routine, let alone waking up with enough time to get ready at all! We’ve helped you gather some ideas with 8 steps to a healthy morning routine. Incorporate some or all of these to get your day started right.
Just don’t do it! Snoozing your alarm is the first way you’ll procrastinate for the day. Do you really want to start your day off procrastinating? Not a good start if you ask us. As hard as it can be, be disciplined and pull yourself out of that bed! Once you’re sitting up, you’ll already feel a little bit more awake.
Drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning improves your mental performance, improves weight loss, and gives you clear skin amongst a host of other things! Water is so important, but especially after you wake up! You haven’t had water for however long you were sleeping, so you need to drink some. And guess what – dehydration slows down your concentration and productivity. So get to sippin’!
You probably knew we were going to put this on our list of steps to a healthy morning routine. How could we not? After you get up and drink water, brush your teeth for 2 minutes. It’ll keep your m0uth clean, your teeth looking bright, and remove your morning breath. If you want to go the extra mile, whiten your teeth for an improved smile – which builds confidence!
Even if it’s a piece of toast or a fruit smoothie you just whipped up, you need to fuel your body! Sparking your mind and body with a little food in the morning is crucial for a healthy morning routine.
Get a workout in and start your day with some movement! Go to the gym, do an at home workout, or even just do some squats while you’re brushing your teeth! No matter what kind of routine you have, get your blood flowing and your body moving.
Showering in the morning really wakes you up! It cleans you up and gives you a fresh start to the day. If you’re more of a shower at night type of person, we recommend that you at least wash your face. It’ll be refreshing and give you some energy!
Sit down and take some time just for yourself. Reflect on yesterday, the past week, or month. Writing is therapeutic and a great way to process and reflect on your journey through this life. You can make a goals list, write about gratitude, or even just observations you’re making. Just sit down and take some time to be still.
Last of all, make a to-do list for the day! You can’t be productive if you don’t know what you’re going to do. While you don’t necessarily need a list to know, it’ll help you stay on task. And you won’t forget the small things. It’s so satisfying crossing things off, too.
Everybody’s morning routine looks different, but if you’re looking for a refresh or a change, we hope this has helped you! What are you putting on your list for a healthy morning routine?
